Martin Scorsese to Present a Lifetime Achievement Award to Mel Brooks

by Amber Lee

No one in Hollywood writes how Mel Brooks writes, which means if you want to experience comedy at it's finest, you have to go back to The Producers or Blazing Saddles ( or countless others!) Mel pushed the limit of what was considered acceptable at the time, but he wasn't just relying on shock to make a movie. True wit is present as well.

Mel Brooks is receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, which is being presented to him by Martin Scorsese at the Dolby Theatre on June 6th. The gala being thrown by the American Film Institute will be aired on June 15th on TNT as a part of an all-night tribute to Brooks, and on TCM on July 24th.
