In a World...

by Robb Reel

His name was Don LaFontaine.

He was "The Voice of God" who narrated practically all the movie trailers for our decades.  Until his death in 2008, the Minnesotan recorded more than 5,000 trailers and hundreds of thousands of commercials.  You probably never knew his name but I guarantee you'd recognize the sound of ol' Thunder Throat.

I recently wrote about an upcoming documentary that lifts the curtain on some famous voices.  Now, there's a new comedy that explores the voice-over world.  It does ask an interesting question:

Can a woman be the voice of a movie trailer?

Or, perhaps more precisely...

"In a world where all the movie trailers are voiced by men, can a woman find a job? ... and maybe find herself."
