Brody hit 6 months old this last week and we decided it was time to take him camping. We went with Michael's sister and my sister. They both had campers and we decided to rent a cabin. I was not quite ready to brave a tent with Brody, especially considering the weather has been so unpredictable. We had a hot weekend, but he did awesome! Thank goodness for the cabin, though, because his top teeth decided they wanted to start popping through on Saturday evening. Let's just say we didn't get much sleep on Saturday night, and thankfully the cabin muffled his cries.
Packing wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Here are some must haves.
1. Bumbo- it was so much easier than bringing a high chair. Get a tray to go along with it.
2. An exersaucer of some type. Thank goodness my sister in law brought one for him. We didn't have enough room in our car to pack it, but man, we stuck him in the exercauser and with all of his new surroundings to look at- he was occupied for hours.
3. Stroller. We put it to good use when we were walking the campground during the wee hours of the morning, calming him down from his teeth.
4. Bug Spray. We forgot to bring some- he was eaten alive.
5. Pack and play. duh.
As for packing the rest, pack just like you would if you were going to visit Grandma and Grandpa. It was incredibly enjoyable for us, and yes we may even be ready to tent it next year!
