She's been tweeting about it for a while, but now all the details have been revealed about a movie project Cher has been working on. Just in time for Mother's Day, Cher's mom, Georgia Holt , will be the subject of an hour-long documentary airing on Lifetime May 6.
The doc, Dear Mom, Love Cher , tells Holt's story, from her childhood in rural Arkansas through her six marriages, her own career as an actress and singer and the years she spent helping Cher become a star. It's built around interviews with Holt, Cher, Cher's sister Georganne and Cher's kids Chaz Bono and Elijah Blue Allman .
In addition to "unprecedented access" to Cher's family, the documentary also features a never-before-heard duet that the Oscar-winning singer and her mom recorded more than 30 years ago. The recording has been restored, and will be released later this year.
In a statement, Cher says, "This project started as a gift for my mom’s 86th birthday...So I went BIG (I’m known in the family for doing that).”
She adds, "My sister and I are proud of our mom and we want to share her with the world. My mom is EXACTLY like Rocky . She NEVER gives up!"
Dear Mom, Love Cher airs Monday, May 6 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime.
