BURNSVILLE, Minn. (KWSN)- Augustana pitcher/first baseman Jenelle Trautmann earned Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference player of the week after taking home pitcher of the week honors one week ago. This is the third time Trautmann has been honored this season, but the first for her offensive performance.
Trautmann, a Hastings, Minn. native , batted .611 with 10 RBI to lead Augustana to a 5-1 record and a surge up the NSIC standings. Trautmann blasted two home runs to tie the Augustana season record which she already shares with Theresa McMahon when the two hit 18 home runs each one season ago. Trautmann tallied a team-high 11 hits while earning six walks and was hit by a pitch to attain an on-base percentage of .720.
With her two home runs and a double, Trautmann recorded a 1.000 slugging percentage and 18 total bases. Trautmann did most of her damage in game two of this week’s doubleheaders. In the second game against SMSU, Trautmann hit her 17th home run of the season and scored three runs.
In game two against Minnesota State, Trautmann doubled in three runs and drew two walks. In Sunday’s night cap against Concordia-St. Paul, the sophomore hit her 18th home run of the season, this one of the three-run variety, and finished with two hits and three runs scored. In two seasons, Truatmann has hit 36 home runs and is five shy of McMahon’s record of 41 in a career.
The Vikings return to the diamond on Wednesday, April 24 for a doubleheader against Upper Iowa at 2 p.m. on Bowden Field.
