Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have done a real solid for the fans who attended their abbreviated concert Saturday at Los Angeles' Henry Fonda Theatre.  The group and the event's promoters have arranged to give a full refund to all fans who purchased tickets and premium packages for the show, which was the fourth of a six-concert engagement at the Fonda.

The sold-out gig was stopped after a fire marshal determined that the floor of the venue was dangerously overcrowded.  A statement issued by Petty and the Heartbreakers notes that the band had only played 90 minutes and had intended to perform for about another half hour.

The message also says, "The satisfaction of fans is of paramount importance to Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers and the band shares the frustration of the fans in attendance that evening who deserved to experience the entire performance."

RollingStone.com reports that Petty spoke to the audience at his group's show on Sunday at the Fonda about the incident the previous evening.  "We had to quit a little early last night.  I don't like to assign blame, but it wasn't me," he said.  "I'm absolutely sure we're going to work this out.  If I have to pay it myself, everyone will be reimbursed."  Tom has come through on his promise.

Ticket holders can get their refund at the point of purchase.  Those who bought tickets through Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster.com also will be reimbursed any fees they were charged.

Petty and the Heartbreakers wrapped up their Fonda Theatre run on Tuesday.  Their U.S. tour continues Saturday in Noblesville, Indiana, and the band will hit the stage at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tennessee, the next night.
