Who knew Billy Joel was available for birthdays?  The New York Post reports that the Piano Man raked in the cash earlier this week by agreeing to entertain guests at the 60th birthday bash of New York hedge fund manager Thomas Kempner Jr .

According to the Post , Billy was paid "up to $2 million" to perform for a crowd of billionaires at the party, which took place at the American Museum of Natural History.  A guest told the paper, "It was a lovely party...Billy Joel played with his band for a long time. But it was amusing to see all the billionaires dancing to Billy’s ‘Allentown,’ about the depressed [steel] industry [in Pennsylvania]."

Snarked the guest, "Nobody there would know anything about working at a steel mine unless they owned one.”

A rep for Billy wouldn't comment to the Post on how much he received to perform at the party, which took place on Wednesday night.  The following evening, Billy was at the Songwriters Hall of Fame gala, inducting Mick Jones and Lou Gramm of Foreigner .  Mick Jones produced Billy's 1989 album, Storm Front.
