Minnehaha County State's Attorney updates technology for prosecuting drug cases

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Minnehaha County Commission yesterday accepted seven-thousand dollars from the Attorney General’s drug fund to update technology in the State’s Attorney’s office.

State’s Attorney Aaron McGowan says new trial software couldn’t be demonstrated recently because electronics in his office are so outdated.

Commission Chair Gerald Beninga says it’s important for the State’s Attorney to be more efficient.  Beninga says just last week the MInnehaha County State's Attorney's office had 55 new felony cases.  He says that's more than one an hour adding that "its just gotten crazy."

McGowan says the funds will buy software, laptops and T-V’s.

He says some drug cases have up to 200 exhibits to present to juries.
