SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Planners say Sioux Falls residents won't notice much of a change if a revised zoning plan is adopted next Tuesday, March 19.
Chief Planning and Zoning Official Jeff Schmitt says the revision, if passed, changes property classifiications but it doesn't change what residents can do with their homes.
Schmitt says most single family homes currently zoned R-S-2 will be rezoned R-S but it won't change regulations. He says citizens of Sioux Falls had their zoning change by changing a number. He says the city did some better things with commercial and office development and protecting single family neighborhoods.
Schmitt says all current commerical property is zoned C-4. If the new plan passes, there will be four separate commercial classifications depending on the property's size. He says it will give the public a better idea of the size of future commercial projects.
