Bob Dylan , Keith Richards , Steve Miller , Eric Burdon and B.B. King are among the music luminaries featured in Born in Chicago , a new documentary that gets its world premiere today at the South by Southwest (SXSW) film festival in Austin, Texas.  The movie tells the story of how American blues music was passed along from the generally impoverished black artists who helped originate the genre to younger, middle-class, white musicians who passionately embraced the blues.

Other artists appearing in the flick include Buddy Guy , Elvin Bishop , Paul Butterfield , Michael Bloomfield and Nick Gravenites .  Born in Chicago is narrated by Marshall Chess , son of Chess Records founder Leonard Chess.  It was directed by John Anderson , whose previous credits include several Brian Wilson concert videos and the 2012 documentary The Beach Boys : Doin' It Again .

Born in Chicago 's debut screening will take place a 2 p.m. CT at Austin's Paramount Theatre.  Encore screenings at the festival will be held Thursday at 9:15 p.m. at the SXSatellite: Alamo Village and Friday at 5 p.m. at the Alamo Ritz 1.  The latter event will be preceded by a panel discussion featuring several musicians featured in the flick.  The movie also will be shown on April 19 at the Chicago International Movies and Music Festival (CIMMFest).
