The Moody Blues are wrapping up their latest U.S. tour leg in unique style -- the band will set sail today with a variety other veteran artists on their first-ever fan cruise.  The Moody Blues: The Voyage embarks from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and will visit Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and Georgetown, Grand Cayman, before returning to port on Monday.

In addition to three concerts by The Moodies, the cruise also will feature performances by The Zombies , Emerson, Lake & Palmer 's Greg Lake , Little River Band , pop singer Stephen Bishop , Ambrosia , folk rockers The Strawbs , Asia Featuring John Payne , Toto frontman Joseph Williams and The Prog Collective , a group whose lineup includes ex- Yes members Tony Kaye and Billy Sherwood .

As exciting as the musical journey sounds, Moody Blues singer/guitarist Justin Hayward says he and his band mates weren't initially sold on the idea.

"I know when the cruise was put in front of us, we kind of said, 'What?!  What are you are you talking about?'" Hayward tells ABC News Radio.  "But then, when the idea was floated by the agent and the promoter, they had such a great response from fans that I think that…convinced us…it was the right thing to do."

The 66-year-old musician likens the cruise to the times The Moodies played extended engagements in Las Vegas, noting that the fan community "would have such a wonderful time, and I know they're gonna have a great time on this cruise."

Justin reports that besides the three performances his group has signed on to do, he and his fellow Moodies, singer/bassist John Lodge and drummer Graeme Edge , also will take part in "some meet-and-greets and some question-and-answer things."

Adds Hayward, "I think it'll be a kind of interesting mix of things.  I mean, we're all thrown together for five days, so something's got to happen."

Justin admits that since this is first time his band is hosting this type of event, he doesn't know "quite how it's gonna work," although he thinks that "it's gonna be a lot of fun."  Hayward quips that his expectations do rely on a couple of factors: "if the weather's nice [and] we don't disappear off into the Bermuda Triangle."
