SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation has done away with swimming patches and wristbands in favor of electronic key fobs.
Recreation Program Coordinator Jean Pearson says the fobs will allow swimmers quick access to the pools and the city will be able to access real-time data on how the facilities are being used.
Pearson says the city has been selling the fobs for two weeks now and the're available at all five Community Centers or at the Parks and Rec office. She says you can't go to one of the swimming pools and buy a season pass anymore. She says that's because the equipment the city bought to issue the fobs has to be in a climate controlled environment.
Pearson says to purchase a new season swim pass, all family members on the pass must have photos taken before the fob is activated.
She says next year, swim pass holders will be able to renew their season swim pass online from the comfort of their homes.
