SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - McCrory Gardens, on the South Dakota State University Campus in Brookings, will celebrate National Public Gardens Day on Friday, May 10th.
Director of McRory Gardens David Graper says the day celebrates the role gardens and arboreta play in environmental stewardship, conservation, green spaces and education. McCrory boasts 25 acres of formal display and trial gardens and another 45 acres of arboretum area that are open to the public. He says when people see something they like, they can jot down what plants they enjoyed and find it at a local garden shop.
Graper says events May 10th include McCrory Garden tours, a bird walk, bird feeder craft and maple syrup tasting.
He says because the celebration is just before Mother’s Day, guests will receive a special discount in the gift shop.
