SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Letter carriers across the country are collecting non-perishable food donations while delivering mail tomorrow.
Sioux Falls carrier Eric Wicks encourages residents to leave food, such as canned soup or vegetables, rice, cereal or pasta, in a bag by the mailbox.
Wicks says the food collected in Sioux Falls will go to Feeding South Dakota. He says the need is great in South Dakota and the demand grows every year. Wicks says it's a great time to donate food because school is close to summer break and that means more kids at need will be at home and can't rely on the school breakfast or lunch.
Wicks says 150-thousand shopping bags were delivered to Sioux Falls residents to fill with food.
