It looks like the long-gestating theatrical film about late Who drummer Keith Moon finally is moving forward.  According to The Hollywood Reporter , the movie, which has the support of Who singer Roger Daltrey , will be the first project made as part of a newly-announced agreement between the Exclusive Media and Da Vinci Media Ventures companies.

Daltrey has been working with Exclusive Media CEO Nigel Sinclair on the flick, which will tell the story of Moon, who arguably was as famous for his outlandish and destructive antics as he was for the unique, energetic drumming style that drove The Who's music.

Exclusive Media currently is in the process of hiring a screenwriter for the film, which Daltrey has been trying to get made for many years.  No title for the upcoming movie has been announced.

"The Keith Moon project is one close to my heart so I am excited to reinvigorate it," Daltrey says in a statement.

Da Vinci executive Wendy Rutland , who will serve as an executive producer on the project, adds, "I am a massive Who fan and consider Keith Moon to be the greatest rock drummer of all time.  I could feel Roger's passion and detailed perspective for this unique story after our first phone call."

Moon died in 1978 at age 32 from an overdose of medication he was taking to treat his alcohol addiction.
