The honors just keep on coming for Elton John .  On October 30, the pop-rock legend will be presented with the Rockefeller Foundation's annual Lifetime Achievement Award for his tireless charitable work on behalf of people with HIV/AIDS.

John will receive the honor at an event called "A Celebration of American Philanthropy" in Washington, D.C.  In conjunction with the award, the Rockefeller Foundation will provide the Elton John AIDS Foundation with a monetary grant.  The organization's Lifetime Achievement Award is bestowed on an individual who has used inventive ways to aid disadvantaged and vulnerable people around the world.

In honoring Elton, the foundation points out that his "personal leadership and philanthropy over many years has led to progress in addressing discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS, and provided major resources to treatment and a cure."

As previously reported, John also will be presented with the Harvard AIDS Initiative Leadership Award at the 2013 edition of his AIDS Foundation's annual "An Enduring Vision" benefit, which will take place October 15 in New York City.  He also was honored for his musical achievements with the first-ever Brits Icon award at a special event in London last month.
