A unique cottage in the Hollywood Hills where John Lennon once lived is up for sale for just under $1 million. The house, which is described as a resembling a tree house, is located in the Laurel Canyon neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Lennon and wife Yoko Ono are believed to have stayed in the two-bedroom, two-bath home in the 1970s. According to a Zillow.com listing, the residence was built in 1961 by a successful actor, and its current owner is Australian Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe , who bought the property in May 2006 for $879,000.

The listing also reveals that the house features "breathtaking wall-sized windows and elegant hardwood floors and ceilings," and a master bedroom influenced by Japanese architecture. In addition, the residence boasts a large deck offering "stunning city views," and where Lennon is rumored to have written many songs.

The 960-square-foot home is situated on a 5,063 square-foot lot. The asking price is $999,000.
