Sting and Bryan Adams were fixtures on MTV during the channel's early days, so it's no surprise that the two rockers will provide the musical entertainment at a star-studded charity event honoring one of the network's founders.

Sting and Adams will perform at the 38th annual T.J. Martell Foundation Honors Gala on October 22 in New York City, as John Sykes is presented with a lifetime music industry achievement award.  In addition to co-founding MTV, Sykes was the president of VH1 from 1994-2002.  He created VH1's Save the Music Foundation, and co-produced last year's 12-12-12 concert for Hurricane Sandy relief, as well as the now-legendary post-September 11 charity event The Concert for New York City.

President Bill Clinton , a past T.J. Martell Foundation honoree, will present Sykes with the award, which recognizes his "profound contributions to the music and entertainment industries."

Incidentally, the gala is scheduled to take place about a month shy of the 20th anniversary of the release of the hit duet "All for Love," which featured Sting, Adams and Rod Stewart .  The song, which Bryan co-wrote, was featured on The Three Musketeers soundtrack and reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January of 1994.
