Hey, you've heard one patriotic song, you've heard 'em all. That's evidently what happened to James Taylor Thursday night at Game 2 of the World Series Thursday night at Boston's Fenway Park, when he seemed to forget that he was supposed to be singing the national anthem, and started singing another song instead.

As USA Today points out, and video backs up , Taylor started off by singing "America the Beautiful," but then, apparently realizing his error, quickly switched to "The Star-Spangled Banner." He began by singing "Oh beautiful..."  -- the beginning of "America the Beautiful" -- and then immediately sang, "Oh say can you see..." Since both songs are sung in the same key, the transition wasn't very jarring at all.

It's not clear whether Taylor actually forgot what song he was supposed to be singing, or whether he was, in the words of many an American Idol judge, attempting to "make the song his own."
