Founding Kinks guitarist Dave Davies has launched an online campaign to help fund a new documentary that's in the works that will feature performances from his 2013 solo tour, interviews and more. The 66-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is trying to raise $30,000 toward the flick, titled Dave Davies Rock 'n Roll Journey , via the project-funding website Indiegogo.com .
Besides highlights from Davies' upcoming concerts in support of his new album, I Will Be Me , the movie will include behind-the-scenes action, archival segments and footage of Dave reminiscing about his life and career, meeting fans and chatting with some of his musical friends.
Davies and the film's production team plan to use the money raised to upgrade their high-def camera, pay for extra crew members and to secure archival film and photo rights.
Fans who donate money to the campaign will receive various perks and incentives depending on how much they pledge. Among the goodies Davies is offering are T-shirts, digital downloads of his new album and the documentary, a mention in the film's credits, and a meet-and-greet with Dave at one of his upcoming concerts. The campaign runs until November 3.
Dave Davies Rock 'n Roll Journey is expected to be completed sometime next year. The documentary is being co-directed and co-produced by Davies' son Martin .
