VERMILLION, S.D. (KWSN)– South Dakota’s women’s cross country team moved up three spots to 12th in the latest Midwest Region ranking released by the U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday. It was the first ranking the USTFCCCA has released since the preseason rankings were released on Aug. 26.
The Coyotes passed Big Ten schools Iowa and Illinois, as well as Missouri Valley program Southern Illinois. The jump comes after USD placed second at the Bison Open on Aug. 30, beating rivals North Dakota and South Dakota State.
South Dakota will next race at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis on Sept. 28.
