On Friday, founding Yes frontman Jon Anderson begins a five-day stint as a special guest performer in the Las Vegas production Raiding the Rock Vault , which is held at the Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.  Anderson will sing a few of his former group's most memorable songs during the multimedia classic-rock-themed show.

Anderson tells ABC News Radio that he initially hesitated when asked by the show's creators if he'd sing during a segment paying tribute to progressive music, but agreed to take part after mulling it over for a couple of days.

"I thought, 'Hey, it'll be fun.  Let's just do it,'" he explained.  "A lot of people do like Yes music and it's one of those times when Yes music [is] really coming into fashion again…Progressive music was pretty funky when it happened, and I was part of it."

Anderson reveals that he'll be singing "Roundabout," "Your Move/All Good People" and one more classic song by his old band that he's letting the Raiding the Rock Vault musicians choose.

"[I figured I'd] let them do what they want to do," notes the 68-year-old singer, "'cause they'll be performing the music and I'll just get up and sing and have a good time."

Anderson says this will be the first time he's ever taken part in a Vegas production, while admitting that he's long thought about creating his own show to put on in the city.

"It's a very powerful place, on many levels," he declares.  "I have a couple of musicals I've always wanted to put on in Vegas… But the door hasn't opened yet…Maybe this is part of finding the key."

Raiding the Rock Vault features a house band that includes Asia singer John Payne , ex- Heart guitarist Howard Leese and L.A. Guns ' Tracii Guns playing a variety of memorable rock tunes from the 1960s, '70s and '80s.  Among the many bands whose music is performed during the show are The Rolling Stones , The Who , The Doors , Led Zeppelin , Jimi Hendrix , The Eagles , Queen , Van Halen , AC/DC , Journey and Deep Purple .

As for Anderson's plans beyond his Raiding the Rock Vault , he's lining up a series of new solo concerts that he tells ABC News Radio will begin with a visit to South America in the coming weeks.  He also has joined the lineup of a new rock-music-themed cruise called Progressive Nation at Sea that's scheduled for February 18-22.

Jon admits that he "can't believe" he agreed to take part in the cruise because, as he told the event's organizers, "I get seasick."  He adds that expects to perform "some Yes tracks" tracks with some of the other musicians and he'll also do his regular solo show.  In addition, he says, "I'll talk to the audience and get some question-and-answers and that kind of thing."
