Ringo Starr added to his list of career achievements on Tuesday in Monaco when he was appointed a Commander of France's Order of Arts and Letters.  U.K. newspaper The Telegraph reports that the famed Beatles drummer received the honor outside of Monaco's Oceanographic Museum, where two of his paintings are on display as part of an exhibit showcasing the artistic talents of various celebrities.

The Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters is considered one of France's highest cultural honors, and was given to Ringo in recognition of his musical and artistic contributions.  He was presented with a medal signifying the honor by Hugues Moret , the French ambassador to Monaco.

"I'm a drummer, but I can do other things. Like painting, living, breathing," Starr joked during the ceremony.

Other music artists who have been appointed Commanders of France's Order of Arts and Letters include U2 's Bono , David Bowie , Stevie Wonder , and Patti Smith .
