Elton John has come a long way from the days when he believed he was too selfish to have children. Not only does he now have two, but he can't stop talking about them.
Appearing on NBC's Today on Tuesday, Elton revealed that he and his partner David Furnish have become "baby bores" when it comes to their sons Elijah and Zachary . "I used to say to people ... 'Oh, God...' people sending pictures of their kids at Christmas. What do we do now? We send pictures of our kids at Christmas. We're the biggest hypocrites of life."
Elton also spoke about how his residency in Las Vegas has been helpful in creating a stable family structure for him, David and the boys. While he's performing at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, all four of them stay in an apartment with a garden and a pool; Elton is able to bathe the boys each night before bed and then hit the stage an hour later.
"The children love it," Elton revealed. "They're not gambling and going to strip shows. They're having a happy life with us, they're in the garden playing, swimming." Furnish added, "This is the closest we get to 9 to 5...a real routine."
The 67-year-old music legend can't help marveling at how much his life has changed since becoming a father. "If you'd looked at my life five years ago and you'd have told me this was going to happen, I'd have said, 'You've put acid in my drink,'" he joked.
As previously reported, Elton and Furnish, who already have a civil partnership, plan to marry in May in the U.K., which recently legalized gay marriage.
