SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - South Dakota’s population is growing thanks to in-migration, reversing historic out-migration levels.
Senior Policy Advisor to the Governor, Kim Olson, says that trend has helped South Dakota see economic growth. But the available labor supply in South Dakota is tight.
Olson says Governor Daugaard will host Workforce Summits statewide to determine workforce challenges and opportunities. She says the Governor hopes to hear from business leaders about their employee needs.
The Summits will offer a forum to discuss programs, hear demographic analysis and offer feedback on future strategies.
The first Workforce Summit is April 29 at the Mitchell Technical Institute and the last will be June 17 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. They're free and open to the public. More information is available on the state's website.
