Road Projects This Week in Sioux Falls

by

Sioux Falls, SD KELO AM) - Here are the road projects starting this week in Sioux Falls:

Van Eps Avenue Construction

Beginning on Monday, August 25, 2014, Van Eps Avenue will be closed from Third Street, north to the dead end, to allow construction crews to reconstruct the street. Work will consist of various underground utility repairs, spot curb and gutter repairs, accessible curb ramp construction, and replacement of the street surfacing. First Street, Second Street, and Third Street will remain open to traffic traveling east and west. However, as the project progresses, there will be short durations of lane closures and road closures to allow for utility and paving work.

Work on Van Eps Avenue is expected to be complete by early October.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Seventh Street Construction

Beginning on Monday, August 25, 2014, Seventh Street, from Prairie Avenue to Duluth Avenue, will be closed to allow construction crews to reconstruct the street. Work will include underground utility upgrades, new curb and gutter, and asphalt surfacing. Summit Avenue will also be closed at Seventh Street as part of this work. Traffic on Prairie Avenue and Duluth Avenue will not be affected by this project.

This work is anticipated to be complete by late October.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Third Street Construction

Beginning on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, Third Street will be closed at Van Eps Avenue to allow construction crews to make a water main connection.

Third Street is expected to reopen by 5:00 p.m. Tuesday evening with a temporary gravel surfacing.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Lane Closure – 14th Street and Main Avenue

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, August 26, 2014, the outside eastbound lane on West 14th Street will be closed between South Main Avenue and South Phillips Avenue. Eastbound traffic will use the inside eastbound lane. The northbound parking lane on South Main Avenue will also be closed immediately south of West 14th Street.

No Streaking Window Cleaning will be performing window cleaning which is anticipated to be finished by noon on August 26, 2014.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes. Sidewalk and Bike Trail Closure

Tenth Street and River Road

Beginning on Monday, August 25, 2014, the sidewalk crossing the Big Sioux River on the south side of Tenth Street, east of River Road, will be closed to allow construction crews to perform storm sewer repairs. The sidewalk on the north side of Tenth Street will remain open during construction. Traffic on Tenth Street will not be affected by this work. Access to the bike trail from Tenth Street will be closed during construction, but the main bike trail will remain open during this work.

This work is expected to be complete in approximately one week.

Lane Closure – Madison Street

Starting on Monday, August 25, 2014, the south parking lane on Madison Street will be intermittently closed east of Elmwood Avenue to west of Lyndale Avenue. Xcel Energy will be reconstructing electric lines along Madison Street from Kiwanis Avenue to North Covell Avenue. Traffic will be stopped for brief periods as Xcel Energy completes blasting to construct electric pole foundations.

The electric pole foundation work between Elmwood Avenue and Lyndale Avenue is anticipated to be finished in three weeks. Installation of the new electric lines is expected to be completed in three months.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
