SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Prosecutors say a shooting at an eastside Sioux Falls home last Friday was gang related.
But Officer Sam Clemens says the city has mostly gang wannabes. Clemens says most "gang members" in Sioux Fall only claim to have an affiliation with a big city group.
A 16-year-old Sioux Falls boy is charged with aggravated assault in the shooting that wounded an 18-year-old man. Clemens says both the suspect and victim know one another and the groups they belong to don't get along. He says they all walked out of their respective homes Friday and the argument escalated.
Meanwhile…18-year-old Matthew Marshal Junior is accused of giving the boy a stolen handgun.
Clemens says everyone ran after the shot was fired and detectives are looking for all the witnesses. Although police know the gun was stolen they haven't determined where it was taken from.
