Two former members of the pioneering country-rock bands Buffalo Springfield and Poco will team up for a one-off concert this Saturday in Santa Barbara, California.  Singer/guitarist Richie Furay and bassist/singer Jim Messina will perform together at the show, which will take place at the Lobero Theatre.

Furay co-founded the Buffalo Springfield in 1966 with fellow singer/guitarists Neil Young and Stephen Stills , bassist Bruce Palmer , and drummer Dewey Martin .  Messina joined the group as Palmer's replacement in 1968, shortly before the band broke up.  Richie and Jim then went on to co-found Poco with guitarist Rusty Young , drummer George Grantham and bassist Randy Meisner .  Messina left that group in 1970 and formed Loggins and Messina with Kenny Loggins the following year.

In a post on his official Facebook page , Messina reports that he's been rehearsing the Buffalo Springfield songs "Kind Woman" and "A Child's Claim to Fame," as well as Poco's "You Better Think Twice," for the show with Furay.  Longtime Doobie Brothers member John McFee will be on hand to play pedal steel guitar and dobro at the concert.

In other news, Furay revealed in a recent Facebook post that he's finishing work on a new solo album called Hand in Hand .
