BAKERSFIELD, CA (KWSN) – The Bakersfield Jam (10-15) were defeated by the visiting Sioux Falls Skyforce (15-8) on Friday night by a final score of 114-96.
The Jam struggled to start the game, scoring only three points in the first six minutes of the game but managed to end the first quarter down just two points (22-20). Bakersfield went on a 7-0 run in the early minutes of the second period and held a six-point lead (36-30) with 8:02 left in the first half. However, the Skyforce then responded with a run of their own as they scored seven unanswered points to give them a 37-36 advantage and ultimately went into the break on top by seven (51-44). Sioux Falls extended their lead to as many as 15 points in the third quarter and as many as 20 in the fourth.
Overall, Bakersfield shot 39.8% from the floor compared to Sioux Falls’ 49.4%, got outrebounded 47-40, and had more turnovers than the Skyforce (21-17).
Phoenix Suns assignee Archie Goodwin had a game-high 32 points (15/18 FTs) to go along with eight rebounds and two steals. Mac Koshwal had 16 points and five rebounds off the bench while Damion James posted 13 points and and 10 rebounds.
DeAndre Liggins led Sioux Falls with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Tre Kelley had 23 points and five assists and Justin Hamilton posted 21 points and seven rebounds.
The Skyforce now head to Los Angeles to take on the D-Fenders tonight. Game time is 8:30 CT.
