Pierre, SD (KELO-AM) Governor Dennis Daugaard (R) is trying again to get a partial expansion of Medicaid in South Dakota, a plan rejected by the Obama Administration last year.
The plan would expand Medicaid to 100% of the poverty level, instead of the maximum of 138%.
The Governor's spokesman, Tony Venhuiezen, says the partial expansion would cover thousands more South Dakotans.
Venhuiezen says that since last year's rejection, the Feds have approved modifications by other states so Daugaard wants to try again. Also, he says, things are always changing in Washington.
