CBS has confirmed that The Late Show with David Letterman will celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles ' debut appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show by hosting a star-studded week of Fab Four-themed performances starting on Monday.  The music artists who be hitting the Late Show stage at New York City's Ed Sullivan Theater during the coming week include Sting , Lenny Kravitz , alternative-rock act Broken Bells , The Flaming Lips and John Lennon 's son Sean .

On Monday, Broken Bells -- the duo comprised of Shins frontman James Mercer and acclaimed producer Danger Mouse -- will perform "And I Love Her."  Tuesday's show will feature Sting playing "Drive My Car."  Kravitz will appear on Wednesday's episode, and will perform an as-yet-unrevealed tune.  On Thursday's program, The Flaming Lips will be joined by Sean Lennon for a rendition of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.  As for Friday's show, no musical guest has been announced, so we'll just have to wait and see who it will be.

In early January, Showbiz411.com reported that Late Show 's producers were hoping to get surviving Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr to take part in a tribute week, although it's not known if the two stars have agreed.

Of course, the home of The Late Show , the Ed Sullivan Theater, is the very venue where The Beatles gave their historic performance on February 9, 1964.  The Late Show with David Letterman airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/10:35 p.m. CT.
