Cannon Falls, MN (KELO AM) - A Minnesota State Patrol trooper responding to a deer – motorcycle accident, was airlifted to a Rochester, Minnesota hospital after having his own accident in Cannon Falls.
According to the Star-Tribune, the trooper had lights and siren activated when he broadsided a vehicle driven by a 78-year-old man. The driver of that vehicle and a 79-year-old passenger died in the crash.
Witnesses say the car carrying the elderly couple pulled out of a parking lot into the path of the squad car. The two cars spun and hit a third vehicle, without additional injuries.
The trooper is said to have serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
The Goodhue County Sheriff and Cannon Falls Police are investigating the accident.
