Brewers looking to extend Mets losing streak tonight

(WNFL)- The Milwaukee Brewers will try to hand the New York Mets their seventh straight loss tonight, when the two teams open a series in the Big Apple. Mets' manager Terry Collins says his team is tired after losing the final six contests of an 11-game road trip, which took them to three cities with a game each day. The Mets had yesterday off, after losing at San Francisco 6-to-4 on Sunday. Another loss tonight would give New York its longest losing string since April of 2011. The Brewers, meanwhile, continue to nurse a five-game lead in the National League Central Division. However, the Milwaukee starters are fraying at the edges. Stats Incorporated says the Crew's starting rotation has had a 4.89 ERA in its last 13 games, after beginning the year with a solid 3.05 ERA through May first. Tonight's starter, Marco Estrada, has followed that trend. The right-hander has had a 5.30 E-RA in his last six starts, after producing a 3.13 mark in his first six outings. Estrada is 5-2 overall, giving up almost four-point-two runs every nine innings. The Mets will send right-hander Daisuke Matsuzaka to the hill this evening. "Dice-K" is 2-0 for New York with a 3.21 ERA.
