For those of you wondering whether Yes will be mounting a new U.S. tour this summer, the answer is yes! The progressive-rock legends have announced a 35-date trek that gets under way on July 8 in Boston and is mapped out through an August 24 show in Los Angeles.
The tour's July 8 launch date will coincide with the release of a brand-new studio album by the band titled Heaven and Earth . Over the last year or so, Yes has been performing three of its classic 1970s albums -- 1971's The Yes Album , 1972's Close to the Edge and 1977's Going for the One -- at its concerts, but the band will be changing things up a bit for the U.S. summer trek. Yes will continue to play Close to the Edge , but it will add a full performance of its acclaimed 1972 album Fragile to the mix, along with selections from the new record and a set of well-known tunes from throughout its career.
Fragile has sold more than two million copies in the U.S. alone since its release. The record, which peaked at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart, yielded such classic tunes as "Roundabout," "Long Distance Runaround" and "Heart of the Sunrise."
Tickets for the stateside summer outing will be available for purchase starting this Friday, March 28, with special VIP packages being sold at YesWorld.com .
Meanwhile, Yes is nearing the end of a current Canadian tour leg that winds down April 2 in Hamilton. The band then will play two U.S. shows -- April 4 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and April 5 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania -- before embarking on its second annual Cruise to the Edge fan cruise. The seafaring music festival runs from April 7 to April 12, and boasts a lineup that also includes Marillion , ex- Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett , Queensryche , UK , Tangerine Dream , Renaissance and many others.
Following the cruise, Yes will mount a tour of the U.K. and mainland Europe slated to run from a April 29 gig in Oxford, England, through a June 5 stop in Oslo, Norway.
