BURNSVILLE, MN (KWSN) – Sophomore Marisa Toivonen earned her second straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Women's Golfer of the Week honors after a sixth place finish at the Otter Invite in Seaside, Calif. on Tuesday.
Toivonen recorded her second straight top-10 finish to earn her third career player of the week honor. Toivonen's sixth-place finish at the Otter Invite in Seaside, Calif., led Augustana to a tie for second place in the 15-team field. Toivonen opened the tournament with a five-over-par 77 placing her in a tie for seventh after day one.
The Augustana sophomore then shaved off two strokes on day two for a three-over-par 75 to move into sixth and slide the Vikings up into second on the team leaderboard. Toivonen's plus-eight finish was her second-best score against par in her sophomore season.
This marks the second week in a row and third time this season Toivonen has been named NSIC Golfer of the Week.
Augustana returns to the course April 5-6 at the Upper Iowa Tournament in Waterloo, Iowa.
