The cold and dreary conditions threatened today's exhibition against St. Paul from the start, but not even the rain could dampen the enthusiasm of the Sioux Falls school kids who made their way to the Birdcage for a field trip. They didn't get the nine innings of baseball they were hoping for, but they did see a solid performance from Canaries starter Joe Bircher, who went 3 2/3 IP, allowing just one run on one hit while striking out two. The game was called in the 4th with St. Paul leading 1-0. Brandon Jones and Dallas Tarleton each had hits for the Canaries.
The regular season opens Thursday night at the Birdcage against Sioux City with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM. Make sure to arrive early to receive a magnetic schedule. Tickets can be purchased at the box office, by calling 605-336-6060 or via TicketMaster.
