After more than 40 years of delivering blazing blues-rock boogie, ZZ Top is still going.  Now the Texas trio is set to celebrate its long career with a new compilation that will be released July 22, just in advance of the band's U.S. summer tour.

The Very Baddest of ZZ Top , which will be available as a single-CD collection and an expanded two-CD set, will feature a selection of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers' biggest hits, as well as a variety of gems from throughout the band's career.  The one-disc version of the album contains 20 songs, while the double-CD set offers 40 tracks.  Both versions also will be sold in downloadable form.

Among the well-known tunes included on the retrospective are "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Sharp Dressed Man," "La Grange," "Tush," "Cheap Sunglasses," "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide," "Legs" and the band's cover of Elvis Presley classic "Viva Las Vegas."  A number of the tracks are "single versions" currently unavailable on CD or digitally.  The two-disc edition finishes up with ZZ Top's rendition of the 1930s standard "As Time Goes By," which originally appeared as a hidden track on the Japanese version of the group's 2003 album, Mescalero .

"We're glad that material originally issued by three different labels over the course of all these years will now be housed under one 'roof,' so to speak," says ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons of The Very Baddest .  "It's kind of a big, bad family reunion on some level."

ZZ Top kicks off its U.S. summer itinerary with a July 26 concert in West Bend, Wisconsin.  Then, starting on August 8 in Woodinville, Washington, the band will embark on a co-headlining trek with Jeff Beck that's plotted out through a September 12 show in The Woodlands, Texas.  First up for the ZZ boys is a European outing that gets under way June 11 in Bergen, Norway.  You can check out the group's entire tour schedule at ZZTop.com .
