SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — At 4:15 pm on Thursday afternoon, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was dispatched to ta report of a fire at 4005 E. Claudette Drive. Initial reports were that visible smoke was coming from the rear of the residence.
The first arriving crew confirmed fire on the rear of the home. After initial size up, it was determined that the fire was on the exterior of the home and had extended into the attic area. Neighbors reported the fire and stated the homeowner was not home at the time of the fire.
The fire was brought under control in approximately 10 minutes. The Crew remained on scene for an additional hour to complete overhaul and ventilation operations, ensuring all hot spots had been extinguished. There were no injuries to emergency personnel or bystanders.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with five fire trucks, one support vehicle, and 19 firefighters. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was assisted by Metro Communications, Sioux Falls Police Department, PCMS ambulance, and Mid-American Energy.
The cause of the fire has not been determined and further investigation is ongoing.
