SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls City Clerk’s Office certifies an initiated measure that would prohibit any new slaughterhouses within the Sioux Falls city limits.
The measure is in response to a hog processing facility proposed for northeast Sioux Falls by Nebraska-based Wholestone Farms.
The Sioux Falls City Council is scheduled to consider an ordinance to certify the language to the Lincoln and Minnehaha County auditors. The measure will then go on the November 2022 ballot for Sioux Falls voters.
