SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A Sioux Falls man was sentenced recently to 12 years and 7 months in federal prison for distributing meth in South Dakota.
42-year-old EJ Medina was sentenced on December 19, 2022.
Starting on an unknown date, Medina became involved in a wide-ranging conspiracy by trafficking meth from Oregon and distributing it throughout Sioux Falls and the surrounding area.
After his initial indictment in October 2021, Medina rammed his vehicle into the vehicle of Deputy U.S. Marshals who were attempting to arrest him, and then fled on foot.
The deputies caught Medina a short time later and placed him under arrest.
This case was investigated by the Sioux Falls Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Hodges prosecuted the case.
Following his sentencing, Medina was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
