SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — The Sioux Falls School Board is opting out of the State property tax freeze, just like it has every year since the early 2000’s. It was a unanimous vote at last night’s School Board meeting. District Business Manager Todd Vik says the option is to cut the budget or programs.
This isn’t a new opt-out. It’s an extension of an old one approved by voters 20 years ago. Vik says Sioux Falls has the third lowest tax burden among all neighboring school districts.
