SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is gathering evidence following two officer-involved shootings late Tuesday afternoon. One of those included a Sioux Falls Police officer being struck by a bullet. He was among several officers trying to arrest 25-year old Samir Albaidhani near 12th and Western for parole violations and other charges. Albaidhani fired on the officers, striking one, before fleeing in a stolen vehicle. He was arrested near Beresford after another exchange of gunfire which left him wounded. The officer and Albaidhani were both hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. This is the first incident of a Sioux Falls Police officer being wounded by gunfire since the 1980’s.
