RAPID CITY, S.D. — A special response team, the equivalent of a SWAT response, was required for a shots fired situation in Rapid City on Tuesday involving juveniles in a north Rapid City townhouse community.
The unit, which had formed a perimeter around the building attempted to make contact with the group barricaded inside to talk them out, but not everyone in the group was apprehended.
Brendyn Medina, community relations specialist for the Rapid City Police Department, said this type of law enforcement response is needed in Pennington County once every few weeks.
Anyone with information regarding the unaccounted for juveniles should reach out to the Rapid City police department.
