WHITE RIVER, SD (KELO.com) — Southwestern South Dakota is dealing with another Red Flag, Extreme Fire Danger day with dry conditions and high winds. The Power Dam Road Fire near White River has been burning for nearly a week. Diane Mann-Klager of the Bureau of Indian Affairs says crews have it about 60-percent contained.
The cause of the Power Dam Road fire is under investigation. Officials are also battling flames at several other fire sites scattered throughout the Black Hills that were sparked by lightning.
