VIENNA (Reuters) – A third, liberal party, Neos, will join talks to form a new government, Austria’s conservative Chancellor Karl Nehammer said on Tuesday, as parties try form a government without the far-right Freedom Party (FPO) that won September’s election.
“We have agreed that we will continue the talks with the Neos’ sounding-out team tomorrow,” Nehammer told reporters. President Alexander van der Bellen tasked him with forming a government after the Freedom Party won the general election but no other party wanted to govern with it.
