SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — It appears as though major construction on another section of Minnesota Avenue in Sioux Falls will have to wait a year. Nine-million dollars cut from an Aquatics bond was intended to repay the city’s reserve fund for the purchase price of the Sanford Wellness Center on Tea/Ellis Road. Public Works Director Mark Cotter had hopes of using that money for the next section of rebuilding Minnesota Avenue in 2025.
The surface of Minnesota Avenue needs repair in that area, but of even greater concern is the critical water main that’s beneath the surface. It’s nearly 60 years old and needs to be replaced. If it doesn’t make the list of projects in 2025, Cotter says it will be near the top of the list for projects in 2026.
