(Reuters) โ Spanish banking giant Banco Santander is pushing to expand its U.S. operations through a partnership that taps into Verizonโs vast customer base, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.
The partnership will allow some Verizon customers to earn bill credits by opening high-yield savings accounts with Santanderโs new digital bank platform, the report added.
Santander will also consider other partnerships as it aims to become a full-service digital bank in the U.S., Ana Botรญn, Santanderโs executive chair, told WSJ in an interview.
Santander and Verizon did not immediately respond to Reutersโ requests for a comment.
Last month, the Spanish bank announced various investments amounting to over $2 billion in Mexico over the next three years.
